I am so annoyed. Like I said yesterday, I start night schedule today, which I am perfectly okay with. However, I took tylenol pm last night (i know, not very smart) to hopefully sleep later today and maybe some in the afternoon to be ready for tonight. NOPE. I was wide awake at 9:30. I laid in bed, tossing and turning, trying to go back to bed. I finally gave up, ate some cereal, and then tried again, but to no avail. I can't really complain, though. It is odd to be home during the day. I guess I will be really tired tonight and tomorrow and will have to sleep it off then. I just find it ironic that on most days I think "man I would love a nap" and now when I need and can take one, I can not fall asleep. I will probably try again mid afternoon. It is a rainy, gray day after all!

Anyways! I hope everyone has a great day and great week!!!

A Nice Day for a Walk....

Today JT and I finally got to hang out together. The last few weekends I have to had to work and he works every Saturday....so today was our chance to hang out! I was sick Friday and Saturday....Not really sick but had a head cold. I guess that is what I get for choosing medicine as a career. Yesterday all I did was sleep. Today, though I still feel the leftover effects of the cold, we decided to have lunch in Manhattan and walk around. It was fifty and breezy (like always) but nice nonetheless. We know we won't live here forever so we might as well take pictures and enjoy it. So we made a pact to try new restaurants and venture into new neighborhoods. Today we ventured from Union Square to Greenwich Village to the West Village to NoHo and back Greenwich Village. Basically, we made a big circle. Nevertheless it was a lot of fun and beautiful day. We saw all kinds of restaurants and shoppes and bars and small parks. I included some pictures below from our walk so I hope you feel like you were with us...

It has been a crazy few weeks with my new rotation. I just work a lot more than I did in the other one, which is a good thing. However, I apologize for less blog postings. These next two weeks I work night shift (M,W,F then Tues, Thur). It is not too bad but I am not really a night person so we shall see how that goes. JT's work is going very well and he enjoys it a lot! I hope to hear from you all. Have a great week! Miss you!

HAPPY EASTER.....

I hope everyone is having a happy easter. JT got me a great easter basket with all the candies I love and a Dunkin Donuts coffee gift card. Isn't he sweet. The weather is actually nice here today. A bit chilly still but sunny and nice nonetheless. We walked up to the fruit stand to get some blackberries and pears and such. I love that place. It is so fresh! And, it should come as no surprise that we are watching basketball today. Sadly Georgia was beaten in the first round, but they were lucky to even be there. Today both Louisville and Western Kentucky (our alma mater) play, but not one another. Tennessee is also playing so needless to say, their is enough to keep up busy.

I took a few pictures recently and thought I would share them though they are not much. I am going to make an effort to take more pictures to have once we leave NYC. Anyways. I hope you enjoy. Have a great Sunday and weekend. This is one of my favorite areas of town. On 6th Ave between 18th and 19th. It is not as crowded and such. This is inside the theater where we saw Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. I was not supposed to take it and I got in trouble...Oh well.
This is inside Macy's. On top of all the stands are fresh flowers. It is crazy.

Hi everyone! Sorry I keep taking week breaks but my schedule has not allowed me the time.....I keep falling asleep early, mostly between 930 and 10:30 because I am pretty tired. I am good today though. I slept till 830 and it was great. I ran a bunch of errands....laundry, dry cleaning, the bank, groceries, eye brow waxing....all of the necessary things in life. JT is working, which is not a surprise these days. He is doing great! He is making sales and working hard and late and is happy. And for all of this, I am very proud of him. I am actually watching Georgia vs Kentucky right now. Their game was canceled last night, as most you I am sure know. It is half time now....Though I grew up as a Kentucky fan and still have pride for the state, I have to cheer for Georgia today. I want Coach Felton and other coaches to keep their jobs and to see the guys that started at Georgia when we did do well and succeed this post season.

Once JT gets home today, which will hopefully be around 230 or 300, we are going to go into the city. The weather is getting much better. Today it might get to 50 degrees, which is warm for here. However, it has been known to snow here as late as April.....so we never really know. I can't go to church tomorrow because I have to work 7am to 7pm....and JT's friend Paul and his wife Tara are coming to visit tomorrow through Tuesday. We won't get to see too much of them because of our work schedules but at least they will have a place to sleep!

I hope everyone is having a great week/weekend! Talk to you soon!

What is Phimosis? The first person to post the answer gets a prize?
(Not really, but just interested to see what you think without looking it up...And for those of you that know, I had to see it yesterday....)

Hi everyone! Sorry it has been a few days! My new rotations have kept me very busy. This past week I have working 7a to 7p. Some days we get off a little early but in the mornings I have been getting up at five am. When I get home, I am so tired. However, I do like going to bed early....so this just makes it easier. The rotation is going great...it is family medicine. We do two week on the actual inpatient floor of the hospital (that is this week for me), then two weeks in a doctor's office/clinic, and two weeks of night float in the hospital. So far so good. I have been with a great attending. She is a straight talker and tells the patient's what they need to hear. At the same time she has a great sense of humor and will say what you don't expect. I really enjoyed my time there...And she was willing to teach, as was my resident. My resident made me research topics, was patient with what I did not know or could not do, and had a great sense of humor. I had to do a presentation on Congestive Heart Failure, testicular swelling, and answer random questions about EKGs and such. I am really enjoying it and learning a lot so far.

I hope everything is going well for you...OH, JT passed his first insurance licensing test and is excited. He has gone back to work and is doing great.
Have a great weekend!

Subway Anyone?

You always hear the New York subway is crazy and scary and any extreme adjective you can think of. Well I have two great stories for you. The first one I may have told you before...

  • 1) In November I was on the F train going to the hospital in Jamaica, Queens. An old white game came onto the train pulling a wagon with a boom box playing "Love Shack". In the wagon, there were several audio tapes and boxes of Capri Suns, both for sale. It was so random and hilarious. I would tell people about it, and they would laugh but you could tell they were skeptical. However, this week, the same guy, now known as "Capri Sun guy", was on JT's train. So now I have support! I was so excited. JT did say that he was not playing music and had painted the wagon orange....Nonetheless, someone else has seen Capri Sun guy!
  • 2) But today may top all of the stories. We had to wait 25 minutes for the N train to pick us up at 23rd St after church. After finally getting on and sitting down, we hear extremely loud talking directly behind us. It was a lady who had smoked way too many cigarettes or, according to JT, had been swallowing gravel for years. She was with two guys on the train and they may have been homeless. Though they likely were in a sad situation, they were out of control with the lady as the ring leader! She was singing nursery rhymes like "rub a dub dub, three men in a tub." After which she said "What the *#&* were they doing in the tub?" This went on and on at many decibels louder than someone should be on the train. She then went on talking about robbing a bodega in Rockaway Beach, stomping grapes like Lucille Ball, and talking to Uncle Frank? I mean, Seriously? No one know how to react or what say. I could not help but giggle. JT was chastising mef or laughing but it was funny.
I hope you enjoy these stories! JT is studying and I am watching basketball. I start in the Bronx tomorrow. I hope you have a great week.
