"Double, double toil and trouble; Fire burn and cauldron bubble. "

- William Shakespeare (This quote is for those of you that like Shakespeare, like Macbeth, can appreciate either, or just like Halloween)

In the picture, you can see Stella the Crustacean.... Doesn't she make a cute lobster? I wanted to put a picture for Halloween so here you go. They don't really celebrate Halloween here, which is disappointing because it is one of those American holidays that remind you of your childhood. Rather we are discussing colonoscopies in pathology class. It is a shame that we have 5 hours of class and a test in 6 days because Halloween would have been fun. Halloween is Zuby's favorite holiday so being here today makes her a bit sad. I hope everyone has a good day and enjoys today. Trick or Treat for us! Gretchen, I wonder if Dr. Oliver still gives the big candy bars to kids he likes rather than the small snack size.....what do you think?
What was your favorite costume? I remember one year being a cow with utters and the grim reeper another year. The cutest was when Gretchen and I were matching pumpkins. I am sure my mom and dad remember all of our costumes. I have an idea, why don't those of you who want to, leave a comment and tell me your favorite costume, the favorite costume you put on your kid, or what costumes your kids are wearing this year....I would really like that. Moreover, send me Halloween pictures! I hope you all have a great Holiday. Love everyone....

OK so other than the torture I have placed on my own child by placing her in a lobster costume when most little girls are "fairies" or a "princess" my all time favorite costume was when my little sister dressed up as Cruela DeVil We worked all night to spaypaint and baby powder her wig then we sewed dalmations onto her coat!!!!

I love the story people quote from the other day... it was so "us"

"Tied together by stuff too difficult to explain to someone new"

Love ya

my favorite costume was when i dressed up as a baby and wore a depends and i got to suck my thumb and no one thought anything of it. i had the big calf bottle and bonnet. and it was funny when mom dressed up as cruela devil and bob dressed up as a dalmation. my freshman year at murray i dressed up in a pleather nurses outfit with white fishnets and tall white boots(i think we were both with mom when i got it). that halloween was fun...i think?

I wanted Emily to know that one year not so long ago Bob was a dalmation dog in a Disney costume and I was Cruella. We looked good!!!! Ha!!!
Natalie and Gretchen were so cute as pumpkins that glowed in the dark. They loved it when I dressed them alike. I would do it now if they would let me.

Natalie,
I continue keeping you in my prayers and send you the following “Food for Thought “:

A quarter too much...

Several years ago, a new preacher moved to Houston, Texas. Some weeks after he arrived, he had occasion to ride the bus from his home to the downtown area. When he sat down, he discovered that the driver had accidentally given him a quarter too much change.

As he considered what to do, he thought to himself, "You'd better give the quarter back. It would be wrong to keep it." Then he thought, "Oh, forget it, it's only a quarter. Who would worry about this little amount? Anyway, the bus company gets too much fare; they will never miss it. Accept it as a 'gift from God' and keep quiet."

When his stop came, he paused momentarily at the door, then he handed the quarter to the driver and said, "Here, you gave me too much change."

The driver with a smile replied, "Aren't you the new preacher in town? I have been thinking lately about going to worship somewhere. I just wanted to see what you would do if I gave you too much change. I'll see you at church on Sunday"

When the preacher stepped off of the bus, he literally grabbed the nearest light pole, held on, and said, "Oh God, I almost sold your Son for a quarter."

Our lives are the only Bible some people will ever read. This is a really scary example of how much people watch us as Christians and will put us to the test! Always be on guard and remember (as I try to remember) that you carry the name of Christ on your shoulders when you call yourself "Christian." This was a great reminder for me, I hope it will be for you too, have a great day!!!

Called and sent
By John Fischer
You are where you are for a reason. Your vocation, your neighbors, your community, and your many associations are a world you inhabit to which you were sent. Every one of us has a sphere of influence that touches many lives and that involvement makes our relationships eternally significant.
If you ever heard about God sending people to the mission field and assumed that if you didn’t go you are somehow without a mission, this is simply not true. There is absolutely no difference between you and me and a missionary heading out to some dark corner of the world. We are all sent. (Besides, dark corners are everywhere.)
Wherever you go you represent Christ because you know him, and your mission is to introduce him to people who haven’t met him yet. The opportunity to do this is generated by respect. As we walk through our communities and workplaces, we can generate an interest in Christ by extending the same respect for others that Christ has extended to us. We do this regardless of whether we like someone or not, or whether they have been mean or unfair to us. Respect is something every human being deserves, regardless, because everyone is made in the image of God and as such reflects something of the Creator’s likeness. Peter wrote to us about always being ready to explain our hope, but to do it “with gentleness and respect.” (1 Peter 3:16 NIV)
And if it is hard to respect someone, remember Christ initiated a relationship with us while we were dead set against him and still in our sin (Romans 5:6-8). None of us started off this relationship very well, in other words, and yet someone reached out to us through Christ’s love; we can do the same. And we do this – each of us – in the context of the particular cluster of people we know and operate in. No one else has your exact circle of influence. That is an influence all your own – like your own entire mission field.
So never think lightly, or negatively, of your position or your place in life. We’ve all been called and we’ve all been placed right where we are for a reason. And the people around us are that reason. May God open our eyes to the importance of our place in the world and the importance and great value of everyone we encounter today.

If I remember correctly a certain student teacher put on a witch hat and circle a huge black cauldron rehearsing Macbeth with yours truly. Oh those were the days, when you were in the U.S. and I didn't have to worry about grown up things! I miss you and hope that you, your mom and Bob are having fun! Love you!!
